IEP & 504

Students with an IEP/504:

Due to the English writing- and reading-intensive nature of online courses, we do not recommend that students with an IEP/504 take an E-School course. In an effort to provide an appropriate fit, very careful consideration needs to be made before registering students with an IEP/504 status. Be aware of the accommodations and modifications that are stated in a student's IEP/504, and then read through the following E-School IEP/504 Support Policy to determine whether an online E-School course would be an appropriate fit.

E-School is unable to make significant changes to the course. The limited accommodations that E-School is able to make are outlined in the policy below.

E-School IEP/504 Support Policy:

Due to the supplementary nature of the E-School online program, we are only able to provide these limited accommodations for a student with an IEP or 504.

  • Reasonable extension of due dates.
  • Reasonable reduction of assignments (while maintaining the integrity of the required course standards and essential content as determined by the state standards).

Please know that students will need to fulfill all core requirements of the course. Given the nature of online learning and the limited accommodations the E-School program is able to provide, careful consideration needs to be made as to whether an E-School course is an appropriate fit for a student with an IEP or 504.

In all instances, appropriate representatives from the school (e.g., counselor and/or Student Services Coordinator), will need to contact and act as the communication liaison between the student and E-School instructor. These accommodations will need to be discussed and agreed upon within 10 days of the start of the course.
